MEDem – Monitoring Electoral Democracy
MEDem is a European research infrastructure for the study of electoral democracy in Europe. In 2026 it was included in the ESFRI Roadmap, the list of research infrastructures of strategic importance for the European Research Area.
Since 2025 I have been part of the Luiss team of MEDem, working on ATLAS within the Service Center run by Luiss and CNR-IAC. ATLAS is a concept-aware platform for data harmonisation: a knowledge graph links theoretical concepts, their dimensions and indicators to the actual survey questions that measure them, so that comparable variables can be found and combined across datasets. My work focuses on the Data Annotation Kit (DAK), the tool researchers use to annotate their datasets, and on its R parser.
- Presentation of ATLAS to the SISP Standing Group POPE, SISP Annual Conference, Trento, September 2026.
- MEDem Conference, GESIS, Cologne, September 2025; MEDem workshops in Vienna (January 2025 and May 2026, on DAK user feedback).
CISE – Centro Italiano Studi Elettorali
I am a member of CISE, the Italian Centre for Electoral Studies based at Luiss, which runs surveys and analyses of Italian and European elections.
- CISE – Ipsos Doxa joint survey on labour, welfare and inequality (in progress). I coordinate the project for CISE.
The 2026 constitutional referendum
A two-wave online panel fielded by Demetra for Luiss and the University of Southern Denmark around the March 2026 constitutional referendum on the judiciary (Wave I one month before the vote, n = 2,520; Wave II right after it, n = 2,192). I use its open-ended items to study how Yes voters, No voters and abstainers justify their choice.
